While it contains familiar symbols and tools as a word processing softwares, the text editor in LibGuides is not compatible with them. We clean the text pasted from other formats, particularly MS Word, to prevent extraneous formatting embedded in the code behind the text that you see displayed on screen.
You can use the steps for "Paste as Plain Text" for any source: MS Word, a web page, or a PDF. It will retain line breaks, but will strip the formatting of the text: including bold, italic, color and font style.
The "Paste from Word" tool can be used with text from MS Word. It will work to retain breaks and some of the formatting that you initially intended.
