Prior to using LibGuides, a series of online pathfinders were available on the library web site. Each guide contained relevant information, but was presented to the library patron using many different visual elements. Some pages adhered to the library web site subject guide format, others were personal pages created by subject librarians, while a third set was housed with the Instructional Resource Center.
LibGuides afforded the opportunity for uniformity and continuity, library web site branding, and continued to allow librarians to create individual pages for subject areas.
