Over the last twenty years, J. K. Rowling has captured the hearts and imaginations of readers around the world with her inimitable Harry Potter series, an adventurous tale of a young wizard's coming of age. Books to Film will cover literary adaptations in four main categories: Classic Literature; Contemporary bestsellers and popular fiction; nonfiction, encompassing biography, true crime, history, and memoirs; and childrenâ??s and young adult literature. Sidebars will highlight people, such as authors, film directors, screenwriters, actors, producers, who are particularly identified with adaptation or a particular work.

Literary Themes for Students by Write a 3.5-4 page literature review that analyzes FOUR secondary sources. Each one should relate to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (film or book—but make sure you say which in your essay).
You may choose from the secondary sources in the literature folder in the second section on our Blackboard page, as well as choose your own sources. If you choose your own sources, you must submit them with your paper.

Guidelines for organizing the literature review:
1. Give an overview of the subject, issue, or theory you are writing about (what is the focus of these articles on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone?)
2. Provide a summary of each article, including specific quotes from the article that are explained in your own voice. They should show each author’s argument.
3. Explain how each article is similar or different from the others in the literature review.
4. Conclude by explaining which article you think makes the best contribution to understanding Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and why.
