Citing within your text:
When you refer in your writing to information or opinion from a source, you must direct your reader to that specific source as it is listed in your References. This is called in-text citation.
The basic format is:
(Author, date of publication, p. number) for example--a source with 2 authors (Williams & Smith, 1997, p. 2003)
For more examples, please refer to the library's APA Guide to Citation Format . For more details, refer to the FAQs on that document and to the MLA vs. APA Citation document. Both of these are available under the Citations tab on the Library home page.
Be sure to check the APA Citation Format Guide to when you are ready to cite the sources you have used for your paper or project, or go to the Library's homepage and click on the Citing tab in the middle of the page.
Follow the Citation format guide exactly. If you need help, ask a librarian, come to a "Cracking the Code" workshop in the Writing Tutorial or visit the Writing Tutorial at your convenience.
