Make your own Face Mask (Sew and No-Sew): Make TIES from a T-SHIRT

CDC Warning

The wearing of a cloth face covering does not prevent the wearer from contracting the virus or passing the virus to another, but is an additional layer of protection. Current social distancing protocols still need to be followed.

Make TIES from a T-SHIRT

If you don't have any elastic or extra shoelaces for ties, you can make your own fabric ties by cutting a t-shirt. You will need t-shirts with little or no printing on them. While the video below states the tees cannot have side seams, since these are being cut for ties, as long as your shirt is at least 18"  wide, it is fine.

Cut the t-shirt in horizontal strips (not including the hem) in 3/4 to 1 inch wide strips. Pull the strips so that the fabric curls.

See the video below for more detailed instructions on making ties from t-shirts. For ties, one long continuous strip is not necessary and the tshirt can be cut from end to end.
