Papers in disciplines like history, philosophy, literature, political science, gender studies, the arts, and religious and cultural studies will employ qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as primary and secondary research.
The work can be quite empirical, but it can also be heavily theoretical. In either case, no humanities scholar draws solely from their own point of reference. The position their thesis in a framework and include a literature review and oftentimes build on its work or engage with it critically.
