Prof. Margolis - ENG 101 - Fall 2025: Find Books & Media

How to Find Books in the Library Catalog

Search PRIMO, the library catalog, to find books in the Harold L. Drimmer Library.

  1. Go to the Advanced Search form.
  2. Select Search the WCC Library.
  3. Under Material Type to the right, use the dropdown to select Books.
  4. Enter your keywords in the search bar.
  5. Click Search to see your results.

In your search results, you will find:

Print Books

Print books are on the library shelves. Their catalog record will show a location/collection and a call number. The call number is alpha-numerical and serves as an ID number. It's adhered to the spine of the book, so you can locate it on the shelf. To find a book, follow the letters first, then the numbers.

Example: Call Number BF724.G626 2024.

  • Find the shelving with the BF books.
  • Then, find the shelves with the BF700s.
  • Locate books with BF724. Find the one that has G626 2004 following BF724.
  • Check out the book at the Circulation desk with your WCC ID.

If you have looked and can't locate a book on the shelf, ask a Librarian to help you.

*Reference and Reserve books must be used in the library and cannot be checked out.

*Some books are listed as NOT AVAILABLE, which means it is checked out or the library has ordered it, but it hasn't come in yet. You can place a hold on any book that is checked out and will be notified when it's returned and ready for you to pick up.

E-Books

E-books are accessible online. To access online books from off campus, use your WCC credentials to log in when prompted. Sometimes, the library has both physical and digital copies of a book.

When you find a print or e-book that looks relevant to your topic, click on the Title for more information. Look at the table of contents and description to see if it will be helpful.

Using Books as Sources

You don't have to read an entire book to use it as a source for your research!

Look at the Table of Contents (in the front) or browse the Index (in the back) to find the section with the information you need. It could be a whole chapter or a few pages.

Some books are collections of essays and aren't meant to be read cover to cover.
