Here is a sample beginning of an exemplification essay.
Jimmy Carter (1924-2004), the thirty-ninth president of the United States,
exemplifies a person who put service to country and international peace
above personal ambition, and he left the nation and the world with a model
of moral and ethical action. Although he was voted out of office after one
term, was not popular at that point, and was assessed as ineffectual, his
work in office and since has been widely commended. He championed
energy conservation, initiated equal rights laws, promoted fairness in
housing, and brokered peace treaties. Carter’s accomplishments helped
improve America’s standing in the world and helped the nation become a
more fair democracy.
Among world leaders, Carter was one of only a few to take climate
change seriously in the late 1970s, and he advocated, by example and
policy proposals, for energy efficiency and conservation.
