Constitution Day Guide

Introduction

Constitution day is a national holiday that recognizes the burgeoning of our country’s democracy, celebrating the ratification of our founding document on Sept. 17, 1787. This commemorative moment also encourages us to analyze the historical components of the Constitution, and how it currently affects all Americans. On Sept. 19, 2024, in Classroom 200 from 12noon - 1:30pm, WCC will celebrate Constitution day, covering a plethora of topics that highlight our complex political system.

Corresponding with the presentation, this guide provides academic resources that cover all aspects of the Constitution – including its history, our three branches of government, the electoral college, voter’s rights and suppression, and voter empowerment. Each section will have a video, summarizing the section, followed by supporting documents, retrieved from our library databases, federal websites, and credible news outlets. Hopefully, this guide will bolster your constitutional knowledge and leave you more informed about our American government and system.

Enjoy.
