Faculty Tool Kit: Information Literacy Sessions

Information Literacy Instruction

At the Harold L. Drimmer Library at Westchester Community College, librarians look forward to collaborating with instructors to provide information literacy instruction to our students. Librarians are available to instruct students in the best strategies for locating, evaluating, using, and citing information resources correctly, effectively, and ethically. We offer a wide range of instructional services to assist students and support courses.

As part of its Information Literacy (IL) program, the Library offers general and course-integrated information literacy instruction to your students. In adherence with the major learning outcomes of the Information Literacy Program, and the American Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy, librarians can assist students with:

  • Developing a successful research topic,
  • Locating information on that topic,
  • Evaluating information quality,
  • Synthesizing sources into a research project,
  • Developing documentation skills,
  • Citing sources properly to avoid plagiarism, and
  • Formatting papers and bibliographies in MLA or APA format.

Please fill out our Information Literacy Instruction Request Form if you would like to schedule an information literacy session.
