DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN CONFIGURE GOOGLE SCHOLAR TO OFFER LINKS BACK TO ARTICLES THAT YOU CAN GET THROUGH THE WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE LIBRARY?
Changing a few simple settings is all that is needed.
1.) Log into your Google.com account
2.) Go to Google Scholar - http://scholar.google.com. Click on MENU > Settings at the top LEFT corner of the page.
2.) On the page that follows, click on LIBRARY LINKS, and enter Westchester Community College. Click "Find Library"
3.) You will see two options for connecting to WCC's Full-Text databases. Check both boxes.
4.) Conduct a search in Google Scholar. Look to the right to see if access if available at the WCC Library
What is Google Scholar?
Why use Google Preferences?
Google Scholar is a great place to scan across a lot of sources at once, but if it doesn't know that you have rights to access online articles and other sources from a library, it might send you to a page like this - which asks you to pay for the article you want:
The journal in this example is in the WCC Library collection, and WCC students, staff and faculty have the right to access it (and articles in lots of other journals) from any computer with an Internet connection. With a few adjustments to your preferences, you can tell Google Scholar to point you to the resources that the library provides for the OSU community.
