Your assignment

Task: Write a research paper (1600-2000 words) on a significant and specific issue, subject, or problem that interests you. You will:

  1. Compose a specific, challenging, open-ended research question. This question should be narrow enough to answer in the space given, interesting to you, and have multiple possible answers.
  2. Take a clear, nuanced, and contestable stance (your thesis statement). Someone should be able to reasonably disagree with your thesis statement.
  3. Research your subject using at least four scholarly sources.
  4. Respond to alternate perspectives on your subject.
  5. Develop your argument using an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion.
  6. Include a Works Cited page in MLA format. 
  7. Write a separate Abstract.
  8. Write a separate Annotated Bibliography
