Prof. Zwick - CJ202 FALL 2022 Juvenile Delinquency: Home

Your Assignment

For this assignment, you will develop and explain a policy to address juvenile criminal behavior, by creating a new way of responding to juvenile delinquency and/or suggest a method for preventing those behaviors.

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate an understanding of the personal and social variables that contribute to delinquency, and apply theory and a solution to the behavior or institutional response.

Before you begin, decide:

  1. What specific age group are you addressing?
  2. What specific behavior or range of behaviors are you concerned with?
  3. To whom are you addressing this paper? (ex. police, courts, school district)

Policy papers:

  1. Are usually addressed to a non-academic audience
  2. Focus on prescriptive questions
  3. Are persuasive: convince the target audience that your position is the correct one
  4. Support your position with evidence

Reference and cite a minimum of:

  1. Two theories from your course textbook
  2. Two sources discussing the issue

Your paper and citations must be in APA 7 format
