Prof. Rubenstein - Eng. 102 - Drama SPRING 2023: Home

Welcome!

Welcome! This research guide was created for students in Dr. Rubenstein's Summer ll English 102 class.

This guide is a customized resource for this assignment, and I encourage you to refer to it as you conduct your research.

Your assignment is to write a research paper about the plays "The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams, and “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry.

You are to find literary reviews on these plays and integrate them into the text of your paper. The literary reviews should focus on the two plays as pieces of literature in the drama genre.

A LITERARY SOURCE IS DIFFERENT FROM A SCHOLARLY SOURCE.

A literary source is a piece (or pieces) of literature, such as:

  • a play or collection of plays;
  • a poem or book of poetry;
  • a short story or a collection of short stories;
  • a book where the contents are pieces of literature as in an anthology;
  • a novel

scholarly source contains commentary and analysis ABOUT a piece of literature.

Citing your sources correctly is a crucial component of any research assignment. Your essay should include parenthetical (in-text) citations and a Works Cited page using MLA 8 style formatting.

If you have any questions about research and citations, please feel free to contact me at rebecca.steere@sunywcc.edu
