You will complete a cycle of a research project this semester, which will have several parts. All parts are required to complete each project. ...[L]isted below are the three formal writing assignments for your research projects:
- Research Proposal (2-3 pages) and cover letter. Articulate your tentative research question, its significance, and your work plan.
- Annotated Bibliography (researching and listing 5 sources) and cover letter. Research something you're interested in. Bring together various perspectives among 5 different sources on that question from 5 other writers. Discuss how those perspectives relate to one another.
- Research Article (5 pages) and cover letter. Write a research article that makes a debatable claim, supports it with reasoning and evidence, and engages with the claims of other thinkers. Within your argument, engage with (summarize and synthesize) 5 sources that tackle the same specific topic or question, but which offer differing perspectives.
