You will write a research proposal for your long research article. In this proposal you will articulate your tentative research question, its significance, and your research plan.
You will also develop an annotated bibliography for the longer research article. This is an essential document that lists sources on your topic/question and offers a brief discussion of each source, summarizing that source and discussing how it connects to the other sources and to your own thinking-in-progress, including your working thesis. It is an excellent tool to focus your thinking before writing the actual paper.
This essay makes a debatable claim, supports it with reasoning and evidence, and engages with the claims of other thinkers. Within your argument, you will engage with (summarize and synthesize) your five sources that tackle the same specific topic or question, but which offer differing perspectives. Of course, each article will document its supporting information by using correct MLA format. You will write one short research, one longer article, and a literature review.
