You have been assigned to write a 4-5 paragraph summary of a biology article that is available in the Science section of the New York Times, or a publication related to biology, medicine, the environment, etc. Your article could also come from a reputable journal or website (.org, .edu, gov.).

The article should relate in some way to a topic listed on your class syllabus.

Your article should include:

• Name, author, date of publication of the article
• Article Summary, including the following:

                 a. Biology topic

                 b. A brief background on the topic

                 c. Main focus of the article

                 d. Citation

• How does this article relate to the information you are learning in this course?
• How does this article relate to an observation you have made in nature?
• Does the author work for a specific company or organization?
• Does the author have a bias?

                   a. What is the author's political point of view if given?

                   b. What does the author stand to gain?

                   c. Who is paying to support the research?

                   d. Does the author present alternate points of view within the article?

                   e. If so, are those views presented objectively, or with scorn?

• Would you recommend the article to a friend to read? Why or why not?
