Welcome! This research guide was created for students in Prof. Vecchio's 19th Century U.S. History class.
You have been assigned a research project that requires locating sources about a topic of your choice.
This guide is a customized resource for this particular course and assignment.
The resources on these pages will help you:
Your project requires you to select a topic from your textbook and write a 5-7 page paper using various sources, including books, journals, magazines, newspapers, online resources, film, and oral sources. You must use at least 15 sources.
These topics are broad, so narrow your topic by focusing on sub-topics. It may help to raise a debatable question on your chosen subject.
You must write a well-developed thesis statement about your topic that should be presented in no less than two paragraphs.
The library is open for In-Person and Virtual services. Additionally, our librarians are available with extended evening and Saturday hours through our Ask-A-Librarian service, allowing students to chat or Zoom with us live or to send an e-mail or text (914-861-3315) request.
